As the country gears up for the upcoming presidential election, one thing
is certain—change is in the air and in the White House. So what better
way to celebrate the political climate than to focus on its epicenter,
Washington, D.C.? America’s power city is undergoing a major change
not only in the administration but also in something really important: the
gay nightlife scene. Megaclubs have closed (alas, poor Nation), but more
loungey venues like Town blaze a new trail in the lettered streets of the
nation’s capital. To take us on a tour of nightspots from Adams Morgan
to Georgetown to Southeast, we asked local spinner DJ Wess to act as
our guide for an inside look at where the gay elite play when they’re not
crafting legislation in America’s power city.
